Thursday, April 22nd marked the 17th edition of the renowned Daffodil Ball, organized by the wonderful Alison J. Silcoff. Given the Arabic theme, “1001 Arabian Nights” Windsor Station was turned into an exotic place we would no doubt find in the likes of Morocco; Persian rugs, a hookah lounge, Arabic entertainment, including: Miray Dahab from the Arabic idol show “Superstar”, a snake charmer, belly dancers and even the Genie’s bottle all set the atmosphere. High end designers were not popular amongst most of the ladies that we met, which as we know or you will now know, labels don’t always mean a perfect look. FIT is what is most important. Always keep your body type in mind, not every designer label will fit everyone perfectly. Of course, this is not to say that designer dresses don’t look good, if the fit is perfect then my darling, you shall shine! We sought out the best and photographed them just for you- c’est magnifique!
Friday April 23rd was the 4th edition of the Musée d’art contemporain’s annual fundraiser, “Avant-Garde”. The museum was magically transformed into a mysterious setting- strange beings danced around the invitees, a mermaid lounged in a bathtub, hors d’oeuvres were served on men who were laid out on stretchers; it was exotic and somewhat very erotic. This type of event usually leaves guests wondering what they should wear (est-ce une tenue de ville, une tenue de soirée…?) These types of events are fun to get dressed for because really, anything goes. Dresses are good, skirts, pants and jeans are all good too (with heels and a really gorgeous top- please no runners). The dominant fashions for the evening were dresses of all different styles; a dress fashioned out of rope, floral, mod, LBD, etc.
Yours in fashion,
Saskia
