Ricky Gervais was funny, but all I wanted to see were the dresses. It surprises me sometimes how some of these “stars” show up at the red carpet in something completely lacking any style or fashion. They have so much at their disposal yet appear looking awful- try Calista Flockhart. The dress does nothing for her shape and her body is cut short with the overwhelming strappy shoes that cover her feet, to her ankles. Ugh… but here is was sparkled last night.

Emma looked radiant in this, I loved this grecian style and the colors were something only she could pull off with that amazing red hair and striking personality of hers.

Ever since seing The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo I have kind of developed a girl crush on Rooney Mara. I love her fierceness/bambi eyed look. There is something mysterious about her and her fashion choices never wear her. This Nina Ricci dress was a perfect choice for her. Just enough sexy, showing a little and covering the rest up with femininity and grace.

I thought this dress was perfectly age appropriate for Ariel- she looked cute and sophisticated. A perfect look for a 14 year old.

All i can say is Wow! Elle “The Body” Macpherson owns this look. It’s a fun dress, nothing new, but I love all the taffeta spilling out of the dress. Her accessories add an element of playfulness and her hair just completes it. Fab Elle!

This dress is not an easy one to pull off, it’s reserved for the bold. I love intricate the detailing is all over the dress and Diana’s swept back hair and simple makeup (the bold lip adds to the color pow of the dress) does not compete with the dress, letting it get the attention it deserves.

At first I was turned off by the dress but after a second look I fell in love. It’s beautiful, delicate and flatters Rachel’s figure. The plunging v-neckline opens up the area and helps create a hourglass figure. Again, simple swept back hair works well with this center of attention dress.

Marchesa always gets it right. This silver dress is the perfect nod to the 1920′s fashion that are about to storm the Fall 2012 runways. I love this era and particularly cannot wait for the Great Gatsby to come out in December 2012.

Old Coat, New Coat

I had a quite the craft night this past Saturday. I had a few coats in my coat closet that for the past few weeks I had wanted to transform. They were still in mint condition and really nice. So I decided to give them a face lift. One of my favorite tricks and this very well goes for any garment that features buttons is simply changing them. I inherited this warm and very flattering wool camel coat about 1 year ago. I never wore it. Why? Every time I put it on all I saw were these horrible caramel coloured buttons. It killed the coat’s entire look.

So I found these beautiful gold buttons and replaced all 8. Very easy- I think anyone can sew on a button. If you don’t, please do not hesitate to ask

The coat has a great shape, is well made and very warm so it was an ideal coat to update.

I wore my "new" coat today and I love it.

Summer and winter are the harshest seasons on my hair. I have very dry hair that easily gets damaged because it’s curly, thin and I’ve got lots of it (luckily) but means way more knots! Even with all my attentive hair-care I find my hair always needs a new deep conditioning treatment. I really think your hair gets accustomed to products so I switch them constantly. I was just introduced to this new product line from the product giant, L’Oréal Professionnel: Absolut Repair Cellular. You’ll feel the results right away; my hair was so soft and the comb passed through with very little struggle. If you don’t want to commit to buying the complete collection, I recommend getting the shampoo and masque.

Holiday Hair Quick Fix

With the holiday season on us and quick hair fixes in high demand, I thought I would share a little secret with you on how I revive my curly hair after it has been flattened by a hat. No worries, straight and wavy haired people, this one works for you too!

My tool of choice, the Rowenta Beauty. Why? It’s light, heats up quick and doesn’t kill my hair. All that, and when I want to wear my hair straight it does that too! My hair product, Redken Workforce 9 (for volume, flexible hold and it smells good too!).

First, I will start with what my hair looked like. Pretty flat after a good few hours under a hat. Not a problem.

A quick fix, is to take the tool and pull small amounts of your hair through it while rotating it 360 degrees. This will magically curl your hair. Another trick you can do, (I alternated with this and the former to create the most volume and curl) is to pull as well small sections of your hair through and rotating 360 degrees in one direction and then immediately rotating the opposite way before you reach the end on your hair. This creates a different curl (more of big wave crimp) where when rotating it once in a 360 degree direction will give you a more spiral curl.

Want to see the finish results?

First, immediately after curling, spray your hair with the Workforce, more flex hold! If you have thin hair like me, don’t use too much otherwise it will way your hair and style down (read, no more curls).

Though nothing beats going to a museum to live, breathe and feel the exhibit, a virtual museum is pretty cool to explore from the comfort of your favorite sitting place. Enter the Valentino Garavani archives- a virtual museum that was launched yesterday covering everything Valentiono. In it, you can explore the dresses, the collections, the man behind the label and much, much more. It was created by Valentino’s significant other, Giancarlo Giammetti. He was motivated by the idea of making it accessible to everybody and decided against creating a “real” museum as it was too costly.

You can spend hours in here, discovering the past and present of Valentino. One of my personal favorite sections was the “Red Room”. His iconic red dresses are on display here.
